    WVC1 standalone codec available!

    wvc1 codec xp

Please advise via email that the DMO WMV9/WVC1 encoder included in the WM Format SDK 11 (and WMP11) supports this specialth beta codec on the platform that replaced Windows XP. The beta codec is still available for Server 2003 users, but is generally no longer recommended for XP users.

  • After weeks of flight delays, I’m happy to finally write this article: the long-awaited standalone Windows Media Video 9 Advanced Profile (WVC1) Codec Pack is available for download.

You can install the downloadable package yourself from:
    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo…96/wvc1dmo.exe

    Package includes:

    • wvc1dmoe.dll – Extended WMV9 DMO Profile Encoder BETA
    • wvc1dmod.dll – extended WMV9 decoder affects DMO
    • WMCmd.vbs – WME9 Command Line Script Update

    Encoder requirements:

    • Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 SP1
    • Windows Media Format SDK 9.5 or Windows Media Player 10 cannot

You are installing this update on WMP11 (XP or Vista) and do not need it. The WVC1 encoder is definitely part of the WMF11 runtime.

The package also includes an update for WMCmd. VBS, the first since Windows Media Encoder 9 Series 3.5 was released a long time ago. The WMCmd.vbs update will probably only install if your circle already has WME9 installed! He rewriteThis places your existing WMCmd.vbs file in the WME9 folder, so if you really want to keep the old file for a good reason, make a backup pointing to it before installing.

If you already have WMP11 beta installed and maybe you just want to get an update to WMCmd.vbs, I suggested this idea as a separate download:

Finally… If anyone has any questions or comments about this installation package or this real encoder DLL (wvc1dmoe.dll) – write here. If you have the right comments and questions about the WMV9 AP, as well as multimedia in general, they might be more appropriate for this topic.

Note that the DMO WMV9/WVC1 encoder included in WM Format SDK 14 (and WMP11) works with each codec on the replaced Windows XP platform. The beta codec is still the codec that can be purchased for Server 2003 users, but it is no longer recommended for XP users in general.

After several weeks of delay, I was finally able to write the following content: All long-awaited standalone Windows Media 9 Video Advanced Profile (WVC1) codecs are available for download.

    • wvc1dmoe.dll – WMV9 Extended Profile Encoder DMO BETA
    • wvc1dmod.dll – WMV9 Extended Decoder Profile DMO
    • WMCmd.vbs – Updated WME9 command line encoder script.
    • Windows XP or Windows Server SP1
    • Windows 2003 Media Format SDK 9.5 or Windows Media Player 10

You just can’t install it over the WMP11 update (XP or Vista) – and you don’t have to. The WVC1 encoder is currently part of the WMF11 runtime.

The package also includes an update for WMCmd. vbs, the first since the release of Windows Media Encoder 9 Series 3.5 a few years ago. The WMCmd.vbs update can only be installed if WME9 is already installed in your application! It will overwrite your existing WMCmd.vbs file in the WME9 folder, so if for some reason you really want to keep the old file, make a backup before installing.

If you were lucky enough to installTo download WMP11 and beta, you should just get WMCmd.Update, vbs I released it as a separate download:
